Our 100% success rate in 2012 for quality live-scan fingerprinting demonstrates our commitment to accuracy and expertise! When selecting a livescan service provider, it’s also important to choose an experienced fingerprint roller to avoid rejections and lengthy delays. Since the completion of your live-scan is so urgent, you may want to think twice before going to some random employee at a UPS Store, FedEx Store or local postal shop. Whether you need livescan services for employment, certification or licensing purposes, you will find our electronic fingerprint service to be top notch and our customer service to be unsurpassed. We are so confident in our ability to capture quality fingerprints, we guarantee your livescan submissions will be accepted and successfully processed the first time! If your fingerprints are rejected because of low quality prints or a typo error we will rescan and resubmit your fingerprints at no charge.
What is Live Scan?
Livescan is a technology that permits digitally scanned fingerprints to be electronically transmitted directly to the California Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation instead of using ink and a fingerprint card. This relatively new technology allows criminal background checks to be processed usually within 72 hours. This live-scan technology is sometimes referred to as: life scan, life-scan, lifescan, electronic fingerprinting and digital fingerprinting.
How Much Does Live Scan Cost?
The total cost for livescan fingerprinting varies, depending on the level of service required by the applicant. Our fee for electronically capturing your fingerprints (rolling fee) and submitting your information is only $18.00. In addition to this rolling fee, live scan applicants are often required to pay processing fees charge by the DOJ and/or FBI to run the criminal history report. Occasionally the processing fees are paid for by an employer. Also, volunteers and non-profit organizations may be exempt from the processing fees. As you can see there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Please contact us for the total cost for your particular situation.

Approved Law Enforcement Alternative to Livescan & Ink Fingerprinting
Alive Scan is certified by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) for livescan digital fingerprinting as well as ink “hard card” fingerprinting. Many of our applicants are originally instructed to go to their local police department or sheriff office to be fingerprinted. However, California law enforcement migrated away from providing a fingerprint service to the public in 2005. Alive Scan is now San Diego’s trusted alternative for live-scan fingerprinting. Our facility is often referred to by local police departments and sheriff offices.
